This was day 11 and 12 of my trip, day 8 of the cruise. At least, there was something different today.  Yes, the temperature was still very cold outside (34 degrees Fahrenheit) plus wind chill, but it was a smooth sea today, and only partially cloudy. My day was pretty much like yesterday, meaning I would get up and go to the gym.  From there I would go to the Windjammer and get a fully loaded omelet.  The girl, Siya, who took my omelet order was the same person who handled the entrance door at my main dining room, floor 3.  I would joke with her about having dinner with me, since my table was normally empty.

Afterwards, I put on some warmer clothes and a jacket to take pictures with my good camera of the ocean view.  I was excited that the ship’s route was going through the Bering Sea.  I kept checking the NOAA website to see where the Aurora Borealis was, and if it was projected to be low enough in latitude for a possible viewing.  Of course, this depended upon whether the sky cleared up… There are also meteor showers that are supposed to be occurring, which would be spectacular to see from the dark ocean. Unfortunately, the clouds rolled in, and as I walked quickly on the pool deck, it started snowing. The flakes melted as they hit the floor, but still, it was fun to see the snow.  A couple of drinks and dinner in the main dining room.

After dinner in the Royal Theatre, the headliner tonight was a hypnotist. I heard it was a very funny show, although I had never been to one of these types of shows.  I was skeptical throughout the show, which was entertaining.  But then I overheard one of the people who volunteered talking to his girlfriend, and he told her that he did not remember what happened during the show, not until the very end.  He sounded convincing.  I’m just glad I didn’t volunteer.

Day 12 (trip) Day 9 (cruise)

Ever since we began sailing into the Bering Sea, the sea has been smoother, but the weather has been interesting. The weather fluctuates from a whiteout on one side of the ship to partially cloudy on the other side. Once again, there was a little bit of snowfall again that melted once it hit the deck. I slept in today but got up throughout the night to see if I could see the Aurora Borealis, but it was a “no go”.  I was able to get some good shots of the moon breaking through the clouds. I had my morning workout at the gym, then relaxed in the jacuzzi with a margarita or three.  It’s a nice feeling when you can see the weather outside is overcast, maybe rainy, and still be comfortable inside the Solarium.  A nice afternoon when I was invited to join a friend that I met at the Schooner Bar to join her at Izumi’s.
