For this blog article, I wanted to explain the time between my posts. It then led me to share with you some inspiration and motivation for what is to come.

First, I contacted a previous employer who runs a FAA Part 135 charter company (for those who do not know, it’s the certification by the Federal Aviation Administration to fly transport people via helicopter or airplanes for tours or specific unscheduled itineraries, such as direct air carriers.) He wanted to show me what he had going on in Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Now aviation has always been my first love since I was about ten years old. So, I couldn’t pass it up. I spent five days out in Las Vegas and a lot of time in my car traveling back and forth to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. It was great to get back flying helicopters.

It is often funny the way the world works. I want to “preach” to you a little and hopefully add some inspiration and motivation to get out there and chase your goals. I like to think that we get what we draw to us like a magnet. If we focus on what we have rather than what we don’t have, the positive mindset just makes us feel better. Whether it is health and fitness, aviation or even learning new things, we should always strive to improve ourselves. For most people, this awareness normally comes to enlightenment after a major life change. Sometime this event can be a good one and sometimes a bad one, but it causes us to look deep within ourselves.

This became really apparent for me several times in my life. I had a fiancée that passed away due to cancer eight days before 9/11, which it a long story for another time. My second awakening was after I retired in 2011 and realized that it was important to find something to do to fill my free time.

Chasing after your goals and dreams is going to take a lot of effort.

To provide you with some additional inspiration, I have included some motivational quotes that you might like:

“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” – Thomas A. Edison

“Whether you think you can or whether you think to can’t, your right.” – Henry Ford

“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Nothing is impossible. The word itself says ‘I’m possible!” – Audrey Hepburn

“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” – Herman Cain

“Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again.” – Richard Branson

“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.” – Mark Twain

One of the biggest obstacles to success is getting out of our own head. Those thoughts that tell us “We just can’t do it”. Here are some ways to stay motivated. For those of you that like music, I came across a motivational keynote speaker on YouTube, Mike Rayburn – Rayburn’s “What IF? Keynote Experience” 2016 for Lincoln Financial Group (youtube.com). It is definitely entertaining, and he gives his experiences with finding possibilities.

One last thing I want you to consider. Remember back, for those old enough, the “Successories” posters. There is one that meant a lot to me. It was, “Essence of A New Day – This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind… let it be something good.”

We only have a certain number of days in this world. So, when you want to accomplish a goal, whether it being going on a helicopter ride, learning to surf, or traveling to another country, we end up thinking, “Oh, I can just do it later.”. But do you really want to spend time thinking, when we get older, “I wish I would have done that when I was younger.”

Hopefully this blog post has added a little motivation to achieve our goals.
